This blog is to complement our upcoming FREE event 'Cannabis Circle' - Jump to consumption guidelines
Cannabis has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, but my relationship with it has evolved over time. As a teen, I viewed cannabis as a recreational drug that was meant to be consumed with alcohol and used to numb myself. I didn't consume all the time, but I had been found a few times wasted in a field.
However, my experience with cannabis changed DRAMATICALLY, when I left the army after serving for 12 years, I started to explore what a conscious relationship with cannabis could look like.
At that point, I had not been around anyone who consumed cannabis for a long time, and I had preconceived notions about what it meant to use cannabis. However, I decided to explore it more mindfully, in more of a ceremonial setting, and that's when I discovered how much it had to show me.
My journey with cannabis has been intense as I started to be with EVERYTHING that had been hiding with, but over time it softened and soothed me. I began to see it as a tool for self-exploration and self-discovery.
As I continued to explore cannabis, I discovered that it was not the numbing agent I had once believed it to be. Instead, it allowed me to tap into my creativity and experience the world in a more playful way.
Recently, I had the opportunity to record an episode with Danielle Simone Brand, the author of Weed Mom and a passionate advocate for cannabis as an allie, check it out here.
Now I have something exciting to share..... We're hosting a CANNABIS CIRCLE and we would love to INVITE YOU to this FREE event

Consumption
If you choose to consume cannabis for the purpose of this women's circle, please ensure that you're in a safe environment and that any children in your care are being supervised by another adult. Cannabis affects everyone differently, so the mantra "start low and go slow" is always applicable when it comes to mind-altering substances. Your body is your best guide, so listen to her.
For those who don't have access to safe THC-containing products or are parenting without backup support, CBD is a non-intoxicating alternative that can decrease anxiety, pain, and inflammation. If using edibles, tinctures, or capsules, look for a high-quality, full-spectrum product and start with 10mg-30mg of a tincture or edible. For those who choose edibles, consume your portion about 60 minutes prior to the circle, and take about an equal amount of CBD at the same time.
If you're experienced with THC, you may want to consume more than 5mg, but please choose your dose mindfully. Tinctures are taken the same way as edibles, but effects are usually felt within 20-30 minutes.
Inhalation is another option, and Danielle Simone Brand's personal preference is cannabis flower in the form of smoking or using a dry herb vaporizer. Choose good quality cannabis flower that's ideally below 24% THC, and don't consume before the circle. The effects of inhalation are nearly instantaneous, so Danielle will lead a conscious consumption ritual in which we can mindfully consume in community.
