Waning Half Moon: The Last Quarter of the Lunar Cycle February 20th

The waning moon, also known as the last quarter moon, marks the final phase of the lunar cycle and serves as an invitation to reflect, release, and prepare for renewal. This phase symbolizes the closing chapter before the dark moon, offering an opportunity to compost the old and create fertile ground for new beginnings.

Reflection and Integration

This time calls for introspection. It is an opportunity to evaluate the lessons and insights that emerged during the full moon. If clarity hasn’t surfaced yet, ask yourself:

  • What emotions, patterns, or themes have been prominent in recent weeks?

  • How has your sleep, energy, and mental clarity been affected?

  • What relationships, habits, or beliefs feel misaligned with your deeper truth?

  • What your message for yourself?

Energies of the Waning Moon

The waning moon aligns with the energies of autumn, a season of shedding and surrender. Just as trees release their leaves to nourish the earth, this phase invites us to let go of outdated patterns, making space for renewal. The energy now is one of preparation—releasing what no longer serves so that new seeds may be planted with clarity and purpose in the coming cycle.

This is a potent time to detach from habits, relationships, or self-perceptions that have outgrown their purpose. What once provided comfort may now feel restrictive. Trust that in letting go, you are making room for deeper alignment with your true self.

Practices for the Waning Moon

Journaling & Reflection Write down what you are ready to release. Be specific about thoughts, habits, and attachments that drain your energy. Reflect on the role they once played and acknowledge their purpose before setting them free.

Cozy Rituals & Inner Warmth Nurture yourself during this phase with gentle, comforting practices:

  • Sip warming herbal drinks (cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and chamomile) to maintain inner warmth.

  • Wrap yourself in soft blankets, light candles, and slow down with nourishing self-care.

Clearing & Organizing This is a great time for decluttering both physically and energetically:

  • Cleanse your space: Donate, organize, or remove stagnant items from your home.

  • Clear your mind: Release emotional weight through meditation or breathwork.

  • Organize your schedule: Remove commitments that no longer feel aligned.

Staying Open to Abundance Releasing is not about loss but about making space for the new. The fruits of your efforts are on their way—remain open, grounded, and receptive. Gratitude, patience, and trust in the natural cycles of life will help you transition smoothly into the upcoming dark moon phase.

As we prepare for the next lunar cycle, embrace this time of release with grace. Letting go is an act of strength, not loss. With each layer shed, we come closer to the essence of who we are.

Moon Meditation

Sidereal Astrology

Sidereal vs. Tropical Astrology

Sidereal astrology uses the real positions of the stars in the sky to create your chart. It differs from tropical astrology. Because the Earth’s position slowly shifts over time, sidereal astrology reflects where the stars actually are today, while tropical astrology keeps the zodiac signs fixed to the seasons. As a result, your zodiac sign might be different in sidereal astrology compared to tropical astrology.

Sun in Aquarius: Air Element

Sun in Aquarius: The Water Bearer

In Aquarius, "The Water Bearer," we can come to view life through the lens of foresight—seeing what can be changed, innovated, and challenged within existing frameworks. As an air sign, Aquarius is often associated with intellect, curiosity, communication and unconventional thinking.

The connection to water may seem surprising, but the Aquarius symbol of the water bearer represents the sign’s humanitarian focus, pouring out visionary ideas for the collective good. The glyph, two parallel zig-zagging lines, reflects the flow of innovative thought and progressive change.

Authenticity and Innovation

By tapping into your heart, you unlock the ability to think outside the box and manifest beyond the constraints of conventional paths. Aquarius energy encourages exploration, independence, and a radical shift in perspective. This is a time to question old structures and envision new possibilities.

Reflection Questions

  • Where in your life are you stuck in the same patterns?

  • Is there someone or something urging you to explore a different way?

  • What are you afraid of in stepping outside the norm?

Moon in Scorpio: Water Element

Moon in Scorpio: Going Deep

Scorpio is represented by the scorpion, a creature known for its depth, resilience, and ability to strike when necessary.

As a water sign, Scorpio is deeply emotional and intuitive, but unlike the free-flowing nature of Pisces or the nurturing waters of Cancer, Scorpio’s water is still and deep, representing hidden emotions, the subconscious, and transformation. Water in Scorpio is about diving below the surface to uncover truths, bringing hidden aspects into conscious awareness.

The message, when external searching is exhausted, you naturally turn inward to explore the hidden realms. This phase invites deep introspection and an exploration of mysteries that intrigue you. It feels like stepping into the unknown with curiosity, a sense of mysticism guiding you toward uncharted aspects of yourself.

This is a powerful time to notice opportunities to connect with new tools that help you meet yourself more deeply. Scorpio’s energy encourages transformation, emotional depth, and uncovering truths that may have been hidden beneath the surface. You are tapping into another aspect of your being—one that reveals profound insights and inner wisdom.

Reflection Questions

  • What hidden emotions or truths are calling for your attention?

  • Where in your life do you feel the pull to go deeper?

  • What mystical or intuitive practices resonate with you right now?

Ritual

To align with these energies, create a quiet space where you feel safe to reflect. Light a candle and sit in stillness, allowing yourself to breathe deeply. Write down what no longer serves you and what you wish to release.

Burn or bury this paper as a symbolic act of transformation. Follow with a meditation or visualization of stepping into your highest self, embracing the changes that are unfolding within you.

Sending lots of Love,

Danielle xx
