The Inner Winter of the Moon | The Energy of the Crone & Deep Replenishment

As we enter the New Moon in Pisces on February 27–28, 2025, the veil to spirit is thin. This is the deep winter of the Moon, where the energy of the Crone is present and guides us inward—toward reflection, replenishment, and wisdom drawn from the unseen.

The Crone archetype embodies surrender and deep knowing. She does not chase, force, or cling. She trusts the cycles, understands the necessity of rest, endings, and release, and welcomes the unseen as a source of guidance and renewal.

The New Moon is not for making plans or forcing decisions. Instead, it is a threshold—a pause before the seed takes root. A space where the heart can release what is heavy so that what is true may emerge.

Letting Energies Go Within

  • What is draining your life force right now?

  • What attachments, patterns, or challenging life experiences are asking to be held with deep love?

So often, we push through discomfort, trying to fix, manage, or change. But what if, instead, we allowed ourselves to be held by the unseen? To trust that what is falling away is making space for something deeper, something more aligned?

May this New Moon be a fresh canvas—a space to alchemize the challenges of our human experience, not just for ourselves, but for our families, our communities, and the collective.

Dark Moon Practices

  • Womb Wrapping & Restorative Rituals → Wrap yourself in warmth (a blanket, scarf, or womb wrap) and surrender to deep rest.

  • Candle Gazing & Soft Light Reflection → Dim the lights, light a single candle, and reflect on what is ready to dissolve.

  • Journaling the Wisdom of the Crone → Ask: What am I holding onto that is no longer mine? Write without censorship.

  • Herbal Teas & Nourishment → Drink warming, grounding teas (mugwort, nettle, or cinnamon) to support the body's deep integration.

  • Silent Listening & Meditation → Sit in stillness. No expectations. Just breathe and allow wisdom to arise in its own time.

  • Moon Bathing or Dark Water Reflection → Sit by a body of water, or take a warm bath with intention—imagine the water absorbing what you are ready to release.

  • Prayer & Ancestor Connection → Speak to the unseen. Ask for guidance. Let prayer be a softening, not a seeking.

The Dark Moon is a threshold—a moment of releasing and remembering before the next cycle begins. Trust the stillness. Trust the unseen.

Moon Meditation

Sidereal Astrology

Sidereal vs. Tropical Astrology

Sidereal astrology uses the real positions of the stars in the sky to create your chart. It differs from tropical astrology. Because the Earth’s position slowly shifts over time, sidereal astrology reflects where the stars actually are today, while tropical astrology keeps the zodiac signs fixed to the seasons. As a result, your zodiac sign might be different in sidereal astrology compared to tropical astrology.

Sun in Aquarius: Air Element

Sun in Aquarius: The Water Bearer

As the Sun moves through Aquarius, we are invited to view life through the lens of foresight—to see what can be changed, innovated, and challenged within the structures that shape our world.

Despite its air element, Aquarius is symbolized by The Water Bearer—a figure pouring out wisdom, insight, and progressive ideas for the collective good. This is the sign of the future, always looking ahead, always seeking what’s possible beyond the present moment.

  • The water is not emotion—it is knowledge, consciousness, and truth meant to nourish the world.

  • The glyph of Aquarius—two parallel zig-zagging lines—represents the flow of ideas and the waves of change that ripple through society.

Challenging Norms, Contributing to the Collective

This Aquarian season is not just about personal transformation—it is about collective impact.

  • How are we contributing to our community and the collective?

  • Where can we challenge outdated societal norms?

Aquarius does not conform; it questions, disrupts, and reinvents. This energy calls us to step outside the status quo, rethink old ways of living, and create new pathways for the future.

Seeing with Fresh Eyes | Breaking Old Patterns

If you've been noticing old patterns resurfacing—in relationships, projects, or decision-making—this is a time to step back and look from an outside perspective. Aquarius energy is detached from the ego and observant, offering us the ability to see beyond emotion and analyze situations objectively.

Ask yourself:

  • What is really going on beneath the surface?

  • What prevents new pathways and outcomes from unfolding?

  • Where am I repeating cycles that no longer serve my highest vision?

Authenticity & Innovation

Aquarius thrives in originality—it does not seek approval; it seeks truth. It values difference—quirks, contradictions, and unique ways of thinking. It asks us to step into our authenticity without fear of rejection or misunderstanding, and it encourages us to share our perspectives, ideas, and inventions—even if they challenge conventional thinking.

Moon in Aquarius: Air Element

The Moon in Aquarius shifts our emotional focus toward innovation, detachment, and the collective. Unlike more introspective or sentimental moon placements, this energy encourages future-oriented thinking—a time to explore emotions through a wider lens, rather than being consumed by them.

This Moon asks us to step back and observe, to understand what patterns are limiting us, and to envision new possibilities for ourselves and the world.

A Portal to the Future

As the Moon moves through Aquarius late Thursday into early Friday, a heightened awareness of the future emerges. This is a powerful moment for:

  • Gaining insight into long-term goals and how to implement them.

  • Feeling an inner push to break free from stagnation.

  • Recognizing new ways to think, communicate, and connect that weren’t visible before.

There may be moments of inspiration and excitement, but also a restlessness—a desire to move beyond limitations while simultaneously feeling uncertain about what that actually looks like.

The key is to observe rather than force. Allow the insights to come through without rushing to act on them immediately.

Grief, Ancestral Connection & The Village

Alongside visionary thinking, the Aquarius Moon may also bring an unexpected undercurrent of grief—a realization of what has been lost in the pursuit of progress.

We live in a time where traditional support systems have faded—where raising children, healing, and creating meaningful relationships often feel like isolated experiences rather than shared ones. This realization can be deeply emotional, yet Aquarius reminds us that grief is not meant to hold us in place, but rather to show us what is missing so that we may create it anew.

This Moon asks us to reflect on:

  • How can I create a sense of “village” in a new way?

  • What wisdom from the past can guide me forward?

  • What vision am I carrying for the future that is ready to be nurtured?

Ritual

Aquarius Moon Ritual | Vision & Community

  1. Gather: A bowl of water, a candle, and your journal.

  2. Reflect: Sit comfortably, take deep breaths, and place your hands over your heart. Ask yourself:

    • What wisdom from the past still supports me?

    • What new ways of connection or creation am I ready to bring forward?

  3. Write: In your journal, list one old belief or habit to release and one new idea or action to embrace that aligns with your vision for the future.

  4. Activate: Dip your fingers in the water and touch your third eye (forehead), symbolizing clarity and new vision. Light the candle and speak your vision aloud, affirming your commitment to innovation and collective growth.

  5. Close: Blow out the candle, trusting that your vision is already in motion.

Sending lots of Love,

Danielle xx
